Lessons - Sonu Mahato
Dear friends,
I hope this message finds you well. It has been a while since I last shared my thoughts with you all, as life has kept me occupied with a recent project. However, today, I felt the need to take a break from the stresses of my routine and pour my thoughts onto these pages.
Over the past three years, I've had the pleasure of engaging with countless amazing individuals and immersing myself in the pages of some of the finest books. I've listened to inspiring personalities and observed the endeavors of hardworking individuals.
Through these experiences, I have gained valuable insights that have greatly influenced my own life. I believe that sharing some of these lessons with you might help you navigate your own path and overcome your challenges. Please remember that these reflections are based on my personal observations and the way I perceive the world.
Passion and profession
Let's start with the delicate interplay between passion and profession. Many will tell you to pursue your passion and turn it into a career to find true fulfillment in your work. While this sounds appealing, there's a nuance to consider.
Your profession is essentially a job that provides financial stability. Is your passion capable of meeting your needs in the same way? Sure, you may have heard success stories of people thriving in their chosen fields, but my dear friend, it's not as simple as it seems. It requires an investment of time and tremendous effort, just like any other pursuit aimed at earning a living.
For instance, writing is my passion, and I acknowledge that there are millions out there who possess superior writing skills. Yet, not everyone can monetize their words like I can. Why? Because breaking free from the crowd demands hard work and strategic thinking. While writing a poem and receiving validation can bring happiness to anyone, composing an article on an unfamiliar topic is far from easy.
End Goal
Whether you choose to turn your passion into a profession or strive to excel in any field, the ultimate aim is financial stability. When someone asks why you want to be a doctor, for instance, don't hesitate to mention the favorable income. We all know that a healthy bank balance leads to a more secure and comfortable life.
A Clash Inside Ourselves
As human beings, we possess the remarkable ability to contemplate and explore endless possibilities. However, this very gift makes us susceptible to making incorrect decisions. It's impossible to have all the right answers in life, and perfection remains elusive. Instead of dwelling on regrets over past decisions, let's take it easy. Doing so allows us to focus on the positive aspects and embrace the opportunity to learn something new.
Take It Easy
When things don't go according to plan, don't panic. Let it be. I live by a simple principle: everything happens for the good. I once heard a quote (apologies, I forget the author) that goes something like this: "If it happens, it's good; if it doesn't, it's even better." This mindset has provided me with immense peace.
Whenever I find it challenging to make decisions or fear making mistakes, I create a mental scenario. I set conditions: if a certain outcome occurs, I'll make a particular choice, and if it doesn't, I'll change my decision. Consequently, if the outcome proves unhelpful, I find solace in the belief that it wasn't truly my decision. Perhaps a higher power had a grander plan in store for me.
Honesty Is Not Always the Best Policy
Be honest with yourself. Listen to your inner voice. If you ever find that being dishonest in a particular situation won't cause harm, trust your instincts. Few individuals truly embody complete honesty in their words and actions. Instead, strive to do the right thing, bring happiness to others, and cultivate your own
happiness.
Happiness Is a Choice
The meaning of happiness may vary from person to person, but it's not entirely different for each of us. We must consciously choose whether we want to prioritize happiness or strive to become someone extraordinary. You may have come across countless names you consider role models, and their lives may seem glamorous. Yet, this perception rarely aligns with reality. It's impossible to be both happy and wealthy simultaneously.
Engaging in hard work and consistent effort, particularly in unconventional paths, often leads to stress and mental challenges. However, if you're destined to embark on an extraordinary journey, you must choose this path.
Conclusion
I sincerely hope you found these reflections enjoyable. Let me know in my direct messages; I would be delighted to hear your thoughts (after all, we all love compliments). Remember to chart your own unique course in life. A good life isn't solely defined by wealth and monetary abundance; each person has their own definition. Embrace the joys of reading, writing, loving yourself, loving others, and engaging in meaningful conversations with as many people as possible.
Lastly, it took me approximately six days to complete this post, as I was trying to make it perfect. I will strive to share my thoughts more frequently, as I know that you all love me a lot and that's why you are here. Thank you, everyone!
With warmth and gratitude,
Sonu Mahato
